  • Is Your Life Out of Balance?

Are you feeling tired and sluggish these days?  With everything we hear in the news we don’t have to be a genius to figure out it is our lifestyle and diet.  But the more information that is provided the more people are just confused and want someone to take them by the hand and walk them through something simple and easy they can follow.  What I do is exactly that.  I’m a wellness coach and I help individuals lose weight and gain better health.  It has become my passion to help others.  I sell products and supplements that can help you do this, but it isn’t necessary to purchase these in order to change your health.

I’d like to write a series of articles to help others make adjustments to their eating habits.  I may recommendation from time to time products that I sell but it is in no way a sales pitch.  I wouldn’t sell these products if I didn’t believe in them – the choice is totally yours.

First and foremost I can’t stress enough the importance of breakfast.  One of the first question I ask when I take on a new client is, “Do you eat breakfast?” Almost always the answer is “NO!”  The body’s metabolism slows with age.  When you skip meals, you cause it to slow ever more. So if you think you are doing yourself a favor by not eating breakfast hoping to cut calories, you are doing more harm than good.

If a person does eat breakfast, they are usually eating carbs.  Grabbing a doughnut or fruit is not breakfast.  Where fruit is a better choice and it is lower in calories and healthy, it will not carry you through the morning.  You'll find yourself hungry again before you've down your second cup of coffee.    I recommend something light such as a high protein shake.  Protein stays with you longer.  Things like fruits and carbs give quick bursts of energy but do not last.  Protein take longer to digest and stay longer in the body thus sustaining the body longer and keeping you fuller.  If you need a snack mid-morning a fruit snack is a good low calorie choice for holding you over until lunch. A box of raisins or sliced apples is great to munch on at the office.

Balance is important in a diet.  No one should stay with all carbs or all protein.  God intended us to have a balance of both.  Also, a tip for the ladies;  if you notice you are having a little trouble shedding pounds a woman's body tends to get lactose intolerant the older she gets.  You may begin to have trouble digesting milk whereas you never had trouble before.  So stay away from dairy and see if you don't notice a difference in the way your body feels over the next few weeks.   Breakfast is important because it also helps maintain your blood sugar levels and it helps improve your mood and brain function.  Don’t be a grouch – eat your breakfast!

    Animal Protein Vs Plant Protein

Of course there are the different types of proteins and a 6-ounce broiled porterhouse steak will have more fat in it than a cup of cooked kidney beans.  Then there is soy based protein (Here comes the shameless plug for my products guys: LOL) A great meal substitute if you are trying to lose weight is a protein shake.  I do sell a great one that has the perfect balance of both  plant and animal based protein.  Regardless how you get your protein, cut back on the carbs and beef up the protein. Life is all about making choices.  Learn to make the best choices and you'll notice dramatic changes in your energy levels.   Have a great day and next time we’ll talk about the importance of water if you are trying to slim down.
